From Ararat sar to Fuji san” Concert in Vienna

On November 9 the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Austria in association with the Embassy of Japan in Austria, organized in "Hayastan" center a concert, titled “From Ararat sar to Fuji san”, which took place within the framework of «Japan-Europe Ensemble Cultural Fusion Tour». The Ensemble led by Japanese violinist of Armenian origin Karen Israelyan presented its view of European and Armenian folk and classical music, accompanied by traditional Japanese instruments.

The officials from the Japanese Embassy in Austria, the Austrian cultural and public figures, the large number of visitors from Japan, representatives of the Austrian Armenian community, attended this event.

The concert started with opening remarks by RA Ambassador to Austria Dr. Arman Kirakossian, who referred to the historical ties between Armenia and Japan, pointed out that after the restoration of independence of Armenia the Armenian-Japanese cultural relations developed dynamically.

“Our cultural exchange leaves scope for experimental creativity, experimental art. Comprising Armenian and Japanese centuries-old arts and music is one of the most breathtaking field of this cooperation”, said Ambassador Kirakossian, adding that “this Ensemble already performed two successful concerts in Germany, and the Armenian Embassy could not stay apart of this interesting project and in association and kind support of the Japanese Embassy in Austria, decided to organize this intercultural event”.   

Then attendees enjoyed masterpieces by Bach, Komitas, Aram Khachaturian, Japanese composers, performed by this Ensemble.
