Meeting of Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl

During a working visit to Milan, on December 6, Acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met his Austrian counterpart Karin Kneissl.

The interlocutors discussed a number of issues related to bilateral relations and exchanged views on the agenda of the 25th OSCE Ministerial Council, the activity of the organization and cooperation within the framework of the OSCE.

The Armenian and Austrian Foreign Ministers reiterated their joint commitment to taking practical measures aimed at the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly emphasizing the need for high-level contacts and visits to attain it. Zohrab Mnatsakanyan noted that the Armenian sides greatly appreciates Austria’s continual support for Armenia’s development agenda.

At his counterpart’s request, Acting Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan discussed the latest domestic political developments in Armenia and the reforms being implemented by the Government, which holds a broad popular mandate. Mnatsakanyan stressed that holding credible and fair elections is among top priorities of the Armenian Government.

Referring to Armenia’s continual efforts aimed at promoting its agenda to prevent genocides and crimes against humanity, Mnatsakanyan briefed his colleague on the upcoming third Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide, which will be held in Yerevan on December 9th.

Questions related to EU-Armenia relations and the enhancement of cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership were also on the agenda of the meeting.
