The "Village de la Francophonie" was held at the Vienna Diplomatic Academy

On March 12, the "Village de la Francophonie" event, dedicated to the theme of green tourism, took place at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna as part of the Spring of Francophonie.

The event was organized by the Group of Francophone Ambassadors of Vienna (GAF) with the support of the Permanent Mission of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) in Vienna and Geneva.

The Group of Francophone Ambassadors of Vienna, presided over by H.E. Mr. Armen Papikyan, Ambassador of Armenia to Austria, since April 2023, organizes various events annually in celebration of the International Francophonie Day. This year, at the initiative of the Armenian presidency of the group, it was held for the first time in the format of the "Village de la Francophonie".

Ambassador Armen Papikyan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the event, wherein he highlighted the efforts of the member states of the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) towards the development of green tourism as an element of the green economy. He noted that the "Village de la Francophonie" presents a great opportunity to once again demonstrate and celebrate the common values around which the OIF member countries are united, while emphasizing cultural diversity.

Within the framework of the "Village de la Francophonie", participating states presented their attractions and destinations in the field of ecotourism in national pavilions.

In the Armenian pavilion, informative materials, books, and souvenirs dedicated to the theme of ecotourism in Armenia were displayed, along with a video clip showcasing the sights of Armenia. The guests had the opportunity to taste Armenian sweets.

A variety of activities were organized around the event's theme, including a workshop on the French language dedicated to green tourism, a round table discussion, and a film screening.

The event was attended by officials from Austria and Slovakia, as well as Ambassadors accredited in Vienna and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
