Madam Chair,

At the outset, we express our gratitude to you and the Provisional Technical Secretariat for the preparations of this session.

We also thank the Executive Secretary, Dr. Robert Floyd, for his opening statement as well as for the reports.

Madam Chair,

We took note of the nominations for the External Auditor for 2026-2027 and support a consensus-based decision in this regard.

We thank the Provisional Technical Secretariat (PTS) for providing the Initial Draft of the Programme and Budget Proposals for 2026-2027.

The verification and monitoring system of the CTBTO, comprising the IMS and the IDC, is one of the organization's most important assets, serving as an efficient and sophisticated tool for global non-proliferation efforts. As a host country of an IMS auxiliary seismic station, Armenia strongly believes that the maintenance of the IMS network and further enhancement of these capabilities should remain central to our activities. In this regard we commend your efforts, Madam Chair, to reach consensus over scenarios presented by the PTS, in order to identify solutions that will ensure continued data availability and reliability, safeguarding this valuable asset.

We consider capacity-building activities conducted by the PTS to be indispensable in developing national expertise and strongly encourage the PTS to continue its training programs and other capacity-building efforts.

We commend the PTS for its efforts aimed at women participation and equitable geographical representation. We also support the CTBTO mentoring programme for early career women in STEM from under-represented geographical regions in order to promote both gender equality and geographical diversity.

Madam Chair,

Armenia considers the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty to be an indispensable pillar of the global non-proliferation regime and nuclear disarmament.

As a steadfast supporter of the global non-proliferation agenda, we support all efforts aimed at promoting the Treaty’s entry into force and its universalization. In view of the current global security situation, we reaffirm our unwavering support for the objectives of the CTBT and encourage Annex 2 states to sign and ratify the Treaty.

In conclusion, we look forward to engaging in productive discussions throughout this session.

I thank you.
