Mr. Chair,

At the outset, we extend our congratulations on your successful leadership of this session and assure you of Armenia’s full support and cooperation.

We express our gratitude to the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs and its Director, Ms. Aarti Holla-Maini, for her dedicated leadership and the excellent preparation of this session

Mr. Chair,

Armenia supports the mandate of the COPUOS and its two Subcommittees, recognizing them as unique platforms for advancing the peaceful use of outer space, strengthening international cooperation, and building national capacities in space science and technology.

We welcome the recognition in the Pact for the Future of the importance of safe, secure, and sustainable use of outer space, and its contribution to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. We recognize that the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Space 2030 Agenda is vital to harnessing the full potential of space technologies in support of sustainable and inclusive development worldwide.

Armenia supports the proposal to convene a Fourth UN Conference on the Peaceful Exploration of Outer Space (UNISPACE IV) in 2027. We believe that this important milestone should prioritize the needs of developing countries by promoting targeted capacity-building, facilitating technology transfer, and ensuring equitable access to space-based solutions tailored to their sustainable development priorities.

Mr. Chair,

As a country which has recently initiated its own space activities, Armenia advocates for equitable access to space and its resources for all nations, including developing countries. We stress the importance of international cooperation, knowledge-sharing, and technical assistance to ensure that no nation is left behind and all nations have necessary and appropriate capabilities to benefit from the immense opportunities provided by outer space.

Developing our national space capabilities is of great priority for Armenia. We see the space sector not only as a driver of scientific and technological advancement but also as a critical tool for sustainable development. We are committed to ensuring that space technologies contribute meaningfully to addressing environmental and climate-related challenges and help shape targeted strategies for environmental preservation.

Mr. Chair,

Armenia welcomes the ongoing efforts toward the operationalization of the ATLAC. This is an important endeavor to develop coordinated and cooperative international consultation mechanisms for lunar activities among states. Armenia supports ATLAC’s objectives, particularly in promoting information-sharing, capacity-building, and equitable participation in lunar exploration for the benefit of all humankind.

In conclusion, we look forward to engaging in productive discussions throughout this session.

I thank you.
