On 8 April, the United Nations Economic and Social Council re-elected the Republic of Armenia to the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) for the 2027–2029 term.

The Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, based at the United Nations Office at Vienna and composed of 40 Member States, serves as the principal policymaking body of the United Nations in the fields of crime prevention and criminal justice. It also functions as a governing body of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Armenia’s election reflects the country’s consistent, effective, and constructive engagement within the Commission during its previous terms. This included substantive contributions to the development of resolutions and decisions, as well as an active role in organizing thematic side events.

Armenia reaffirms its commitment to continue contributing actively to strengthening international cooperation in combating crime and enhancing the effectiveness of criminal justice systems worldwide.
