Madam Chair,

Let me begin by congratulating you on your election and assuring you of our full support in steering the work of this Committee.

We express our appreciation to the outgoing chair and the other outgoing Bureau members for their successful leadership.

We thank the Director General Gerd Müller for presenting the comprehensive Annual Report for the Committee’s consideration and commend the notable results demonstrated by UNIDO as well as its resilient financial situation throughout the reporting period, despite geopolitical constraints, multiple crises, budgetary limitations, trade volatility and other external and structural challenges.

The sustained growth in demand for UNIDO’s expertise and technical cooperation underscores the continued relevance of the organization’s mandate. We firmly believe that UNIDO's technical expertise and field-level engagement remain instrumental in supporting Member States’ efforts to advance inclusive and sustainable industrial development.

An active and constructive partnership between Armenia and UNIDO has delivered substantive outcomes demonstrating the effectiveness of this cooperation. Under the Country Programme for Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development (2022-2026) UNIDO has contributed to industrial upgrading, strengthening competitiveness and promoting sustainable production. Notably, cooperation in the textile and light industry sectors has supported modernization, strengthened production capacities, expanded market opportunities and increased the international visibility of Armenian products.

We recall with appreciation the adoption by consensus of the resolution entitled “Circular Economy for Inclusive and Sustainable Development,” jointly submitted by Armenia, Mexico, and the Philippines that promotes circular economy as a key pathway towards more sustainable, resilient and resource-efficient industrial development with a particular focus on developing countries.

Madam Chair,

Armenia maintains its position in support of zero nominal growth in the regular budget, viewing budgetary discipline, prudent resource management, and the prioritization of available resources as indispensable for effective organizational governance. In light of growing demands placed upon UNIDO, we believe that sustainable budgetary planning must go hand in hand with continued efforts to enhance efficiency, simplify administrative procedures and optimize resource utilization.  Furthermore, it can help to foster innovation, strengthen results-based management and enable effective mandate implementation while maintaining confidence of Member States and ensuring the Organization’s long-term sustainability.

Madam Chair,

As the forthcoming host of COP17 on Biodiversity, Armenia remains committed to close cooperation with all stakeholders with the aim of ensuring the harmonious integration of biodiversity conservation and industrial development in pursuit of a sustainable future.

We stress the importance of ensuring that UNIDO continues to operate as a responsive, efficient and results-oriented organization supporting Member States in addressing contemporary industrial development challenges.

Thank you.
