Participation of the Ambassador of Armenia in the ‘APPEAR in Practice 22’ Event Held at BOKU University in Vienna

18 June, 2026

On 18 June, the event entitled “APPEAR in Practice 22” was held at BOKU University in Vienna. The event presented the outcomes of three projects—EcoServ, SOAA, and ArmBioClimate— implemented in Armenia through the cooperation of Armenian higher education institutions, the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD), the APPEAR programme, and BOKU University Vienna.

The projects aimed to provide research-based and practical solutions to existing environmental and agricultural challenges.

Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Austria, Andranik Hovhannisyan delivered opening remarks. In particular, he highly commended the Austrian side’s support for the implementation of environmental and development-oriented initiatives in Armenia.

Ambassador Hovhannisyan emphasized the particular importance of such programmes in light of Armenia’s forthcoming role as host and president of the 17th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) which will be convened in October 2026.

Ambassador Hovhannisyan also underscored the importance of ensuring the continuity of such initiatives, which contribute to strengthening the capacities of Armenian educational institutions and deepening educational cooperation between Armenia and Austria.

The event was attended by representatives of the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD), the APPEAR programme, and BOKU University, as well as researchers representing higher education institutions from Armenia and Austria, including the authors of the projects, who delivered presentations during the event.
