Mr Chair,

At the outset, Armenia extends its sincere appreciation to the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs and its Director, Ms. Aarti Holla-Maini, for her leadership and the thorough preparations for this session. We assure you of our full support and continued cooperation.

Armenia firmly supports the mandate of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and its two Subcommittees, which we see as unique and indispensable platforms for advancing the peaceful exploration and use of outer space.

We welcome the reaffirmation of these principles in the Pact for the Future, in particular its emphasis on the widest possible adherence to and full compliance with the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, the cornerstone of the international legal regime governing outer space activities. We also note the Pact’s recognition of the critical role of the safe, secure, and sustainable use of outer space in the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Mr Chair,

In recent years, Armenia has steadily developed its national space capabilities, building on its scientific heritage and achieving new milestones in the space sector. Armenia successfully launched its first satellite, ARMASAT-1, in 2022, followed by HAYASAT-1 in 2023, the first satellite fully designed and built by Armenian specialists. These achievements are complemented by ongoing efforts to expand space-related education and research, including Mars-analog experiments conducted in 2024 in collaboration with international partners, aimed at simulating space landings and advancing scientific research.

Armenia remains committed to strengthening the global governance architecture for outer space. In this regard, we will continue to actively participate in the work of the ATLAC, with readiness to contribute to the advancement of its mandate and objectives.

Armenia also supports the proposal to convene a Fourth United Nations Conference on the Peaceful Exploration and Use of Outer Space, UNISPACE IV, in 2027.

Armenia advocates for equitable access to outer space and its resources for all nations. In this regard, technical assistance, capacity-building, knowledge-sharing, and international cooperation remain essential to ensuring that all States can meaningfully benefit from the opportunities offered by outer space.

In conclusion, we look forward to engaging in constructive and productive discussions throughout this session.

Thank you.
