Madame Director,

It is my distinct honour, in my capacity as Chair of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs and as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia, to warmly welcome you and extend my sincere congratulations on your appointment as Director General of UNOV and Executive Director of UNODC.

At a time when the international community continues to face complex and evolving challenges related to drugs, organized crime, corruption, and terrorism, the leadership of UNODC remains of critical importance in supporting Member States in advancing evidence-based policies, promoting international cooperation, and strengthening multilateral responses grounded in the principles of the United Nations Charter.

I am confident that, under your able leadership, UNODC will continue to build on its strong foundation and further enhance its support to Member States in addressing the world drug problem.

As CND stands at an important juncture preparing for the landmark global drug policy review scheduled in 2029 and advancing the work of the newly established expert panel, we look forward to working closely with you in navigating the ongoing UN80 reform process and count on your leadership in addressing the challenges facing the Commission, including those arising from the current financial constraints.

Please be assured of the full support and cooperation of the Chair and the Bureau of the Commission, as well as the Republic of Armenia in the important responsibilities that lie ahead.

I wish you every success in your mandate and look forward to a close and productive cooperation.
