The newly-appointed Ambassador of Austria handed over a copy of his credentials to the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia

On April 17, Paruyr Hovhannisyan, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia received Thomas Mühlmann, the newly-appointed Ambassador of Austria to Armenia (residence in Tbilisi), on the occasion of handing over the copy of his credentials.

Deputy Minister Hovhannisyan congratulated Аmbassador Mühlmann on his appointment and expressed hope that his tenure will mark progress and success in relations between Armenia and Austria.

The sides touched upon the cooperation agenda between Armenia and Austria at bilateral and multilateral levels, highlighted the importance of the current dynamics of political dialogue, stressing the significance of expanding close and effective partnership in the areas of trade, investment, culture, education, and technology.

Deputy Minister Hovhannisyan and Ambassador Mühlmann emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation and active dialogue between friendship groups.

Ambassador Mühlmann thanked the Deputy Minister for the warm welcome and assured that he will do his best to continue strengthening the Armenian-Austrian relations and raising them qualitatively to a new level.

The sides also touched upon the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from the four-month-long blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan and the provocation of the Azerbaijani side near Tegh village on April 11. The imperative to lift the blockade of the Lachin corridor in accordance with the November 9, 2020, Trilateral Statement was also underlined.
