Solemn reception marking the 33rd Anniversary of Armenia's Independence hosted in Vienna

28 October, 2024

On October 28, a solemn reception dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Armenia was held in Vienna.

In his remarks, H.E. Armen Papikyan, Ambassador of Armenia to Austria, who is concluding his diplomatic mission in Vienna, reflected on the significance of the Independence Day, noting that 33 years ago, the Armenian people realized their long-standing aspiration to live as a free and sovereign nation.

The ambassador honored the memory of all those who sacrificed their lives for Armenia’s independence and expressed his heartfelt wish for the safe return of Armenian prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan.

Ambassador Papikyan emphasized the multi-faceted, mutually beneficial cooperation between Armenia and Austria, expressing confidence that these relations, grounded in shared values, will continue to flourish through collaborative efforts—both bilaterally and within the framework of the Armenia-EU partnership.

The event was attended by representatives from Austria's Federal Ministry for European and Foreign Affairs and other government bodies, numerous ambassadors accredited in Vienna, as well as members of the Austrian Armenian community, journalists, and cultural and scientific figures.
