Meeting with the Rector of the University of Salzburg 'Paris-Lodron' and Participation in Events Dedicated to the Arakelots Monastic Complex in Tavush region

On May 7, Ambassador Andranik Hovhannisyan met with Bernard Fürlinger, Rector of the University of Salzburg “Paris-Lodron”, to discuss prospects for further cooperation.

During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the University of Salzburg “Paris-Lodron” on the promotion of Armenian Studies.

On the same day, Ambassador Hovhannisyan attended the opening of an exhibition and a scientific seminar dedicated to the inclusion of the Arakelots Monastic Complex and settlement, located in the Tavush region of Armenia, in the 2025 list of “7 Most Endangered” monuments and cultural heritage sites in Europe. He delivered opening remarks at both events.

Ambassador Hovhannisyan highly valued the University’s contribution to the promotion of Armenian Studies, emphasizing its importance for Armenia.

He also extended his gratitude, through Austrian Armenologist Jasmine Dum-Tragut, to all those who have worked tirelessly to preserve Armenian cultural monuments and promote their global recognition.

Speeches were also delivered by Jasmine Dum-Tragut, Gayane Casnati, representative of the European heritage network “Europa Nostra,” and Constantin Staus-Rausch, representive of Blue Shield Austria.
