On November 27, the 21st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, adopted by consensus a resolution entitled “Circular Economy for Inclusive and Sustainable Development,” jointly submitted by Armenia, Mexico, and the Philippines.

The resolution promotes the circular economy as a key pathway toward more sustainable, resilient, and resource-efficient industrial development. It places particular emphasis on supporting developing countries through enhanced financing, capacity-building, technology transfer, and access to innovative solutions that can accelerate the implementation of circular-economy practices.

The document also underscores the critical role of international financial institutions and development partners in expanding assistance, noting that strengthened cooperation can help developing countries build industrial resilience, create jobs, and advance their sustainable development objectives.

Note: The General Conference is the supreme policymaking organ of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (headquartered in Vienna), where all Member States meet once every two years.
