Regarding Participation in the Events Marking the Victory in World War II and the 81st Anniversary of the Liberation of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp

10 May, 2026

On May 9–10, the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Armenia in Austria participated in commemorative events marking the 81st anniversary of the Victory in World War II and the liberation of the Mauthausen concentration camp.

As part of the commemorations, the Embassy staff paid tribute to the memory of those who gave their lives for peace and freedom by laying wreaths at the monument in Vienna Central Cemetery and at the memorial complex on Schwarzenberg Square.

The Armenian delegation also took part in the solemn memorial ceremony held at the site of the former Mauthausen concentration camp. The event was attended by Austrian state and political representatives, delegations from diplomatic missions accredited in Austria, as well as representatives of international and non-governmental organizations.

During the ceremony, the Embassy staff laid wreaths at memorials dedicated to prisoners of war and at the plaque commemorating the sons and daughters of the Armenian people who perished in the struggle against fascism.
