Concert dedicated to Armenian-French chansonnier Charles Aznavour

21 April, 2026

On April 21, the “Sounds of Armenia” music festival opened at Porgy & Bess concert hall in Vienna. The festival features a three-day program of events, including concerts and literary readings, aimed at promoting Armenian culture and musical art.

The festival’s opening concert paid tribute to the celebrated Armenian-French chansonnier Charles Aznavour. The program was performed by singer Titiano, accompanied by pianist Eric Wilms, a longtime collaborator of Aznavour.

Opening remarks were delivered by Andranik Hovhannisyan, Ambassador of Armenia to Austria. Highlighting the richness of Armenian musical traditions, he noted their vital role in uniting Armenians worldwide and preserving national identity.

Ambassador Hovhannisyan emphasized that Charles Aznavour exemplified this unity, and he briefly presented the artist’s legacy, underscoring his significant contribution to the development of the Republic of Armenia.

As part of the festival program, works by Armenian composers will be performed by Austrian-Armenian jazz musician Karen Asatryan.
