Meeting of Ambassador Andranik Hovhannisyan with the Federal Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management of Austria

On October 7, Ambassador Andranik Hovhannisyan held a meeting with Norbert Totschnig, Federal Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Climate and Environmental Protection, Regions and Water Management of the Republic of Austria.

The interlocutors expressed appreciation for the effective cooperation between Armenia and Austria in the framework of the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), to be hosted by Armenia.

Ambassador Hovhannisyan expressed confidence that the Conference, including its high-level segment, would provide new impetus for the proper fulfillment of international obligations undertaken by countries in the field of biodiversity and would outline the directions for future work.

He presented the priorities of Armenia’s COP17 Presidency and reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to ensuring inclusive, substantive and productive discussions.

The Ambassador expressed appreciation for the cooperation established in the field of environmental governance and for Austria’s support to reform process in Armenia, highlighting the importance of drawing on Austria’s extensive expertise and experience in this area.

The interlocutors also discussed new opportunities for cooperation in the areas of agriculture, water resources management and environmental protection.
