Concert Tour in Vienna of the winners of the “New Names” festival

On May 11-15 the concert tour by winners of the Project “New Names” took place in Vienna. The first recital of the gifted children and adolescence from Armenia, Russia and Austria took place in the “Armenia” center of the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia. In the presence of representatives of Austrian Armenian community, the works of European, Russian and Armenia composers were performed. From the very beginning the hall of the “Armenia” Center filled up with sincere and pure feelings characterizing the performance by young musicians, who, at the same time, manifested themselves as skillful and talented artists.

The second recital took place at the hall of the Center for Russian Culture and Science. The representatives of the Russian, Armenian and Austrian community, local and international cultural circles attended the concert. This day the organizers assigned for the spiritual music.

The winners of the prestigious “New Names” festival gave the final Gala-concert at the Big hall of the Vienna Prainer Conservatory – in Erbarsaal. The winners of another prestigious festival – the Austrian “Young Masters” joined their age-mates from Armenia and Russia. The concert attended a big number of representatives of the Austrian governmental and political institutions, NGO -s, heads and members of the diplomatic missions accredited to Austria and Vienna International organizations, as well as many musicians, artists, producers etc.
In his opening remarks Dr. Arman Kirakosssian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Austria briefly touched upon the history of the “New Names” festival, which successfully operates both in Armenia and Russia since 1989. He highly valued the contributions of governments and non-governmental organizations, funds, individuals, who support both financially and morally gifted children from Armenia, Russia and other countries. He especially highlighted the invaluable role of the festival’s founder, late Ivetta Voronova, as well as its current director, Denis Matsuev – from Russian side, and Ms. Sylva Mekinian, the founder and long-standing head of the Armenian branch of the festival, as well as her deputy Nonna Voskanyan and art-director of this tour Ms. Karine Harutyunian.
Armenian Ambassador stressed that this festival enjoys special attitude in Armenia, particularly it lays under the auspices of the First Lady of the Republic of Armenia Mrs. Rita Sargsyan. The most recent concert tour of the gifted young musicians took place in Malta and was sponsored by the office of the president of Malta, H.E. Ms. Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.
Ambassador Kirakossian added, that this concert tour become true due to efforts and support of Armenian and Russian embassies in Austria, the children received support from the Austrian Armenian Apostolic community, “The European Fund for Cultural Support”, “Austrian Railways” etc.
Dr. Kirakossian noted, that children are best representatives of the Culture and Arts of our nations, because they always overwhelm by their sincere and devoted attitude.
Armenian, Russian and Austrian young musicians performed works of Mahler, Piazzolla, Dvorak, Sen Sannes, Komitas, Avetissian, Khachaturyan and many others. The 2-hours duration concert concluded with the sounds of Armenian duduk, that was accompanied by the long applauds and “bravo” voices of the auditory.
